Gingras - John and Donna

.

PERSONAL TESTIMONY OF JOHN AND DONNA GINGRAS

ACTS 16:31......BELIEVE ON THE LORD JESUS CHRIST , AND THOU SHALT BE SAVED....

ROMANS 10:13 FOR WHOSOEVER SHALL CALL UPON THE NAME OF THE LORD SHALL BE SAVED.

When asked if we are saved, we give the only answer that can be given. We were saved the same way everyone is saved, by the blood of Jesus Christ and through his finished work ONLY. We have done exactly what the Bible has told us to do. The two above verses are instrumental to anyone getting saved. One does not receive the gift of eternal life by any other way, than by receiving the Lord Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and asking Him into their hearts and life. Admitting that we are sinners and trusting only in Him and what He did on the cross for our eternal life. Believing in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ, which is the Gospel (Good News) message.

ROMANS 6:23 - FOR THE WAGES OF SIN IS DEATH; BUT THE GIFT OF GOD IS ETERNAL LIFE THROUGH JESUS CHRIST OUR LORD.

ROMANS 3:23 - FOR ALL HAVE SINNED, AND COME SHORT OF THE GLORY OF GOD.

TITUS 3:5 - NOT BY WORKS OF RIGHTEOUSNESS WHICH WE HAVE DONE, BUT ACCORDING TO HIS MERCY HE SAVED US, BY THE WASHING OF REGENERATION AND RENEWING OF THE HOLY GHOST.

John and I were saved at a late age. John was 50 and I was 48. The Lord brought us through different circumstances, but by His Grace, at the approximate same time. (God puts each of us through different situations in private, no person can help another. Externally the life may be the same but it is a very personal matter for each.) John and I never walked an aisle at church to get saved. No one person ever witnessed to us, although I do believe that John’s family prayed for our salvation. It was the Lord Jesus Christ who worked in our hearts to pick up His Holy Word to read ; the Holy Spirit working in our hearts to show us that we were sinners; that we didn’t deserve heaven; that the Lord Jesus Christ loved us and paid for our sins so that God the Father could offer us the free gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ.

I was raised a Lutheran. Lutherans are taught that if you are baptized and confirmed that you are going to heaven. I had been to enough funerals where the ministers had said . ...Now they were in heaven because they had been baptized and confirmed on such and such a date.... I had no real thoughts of eternal life, why should I? After all, had I not done what the church said I had to do? John had been raised a Catholic. Now Catholics do think about eternity for they are taught about purgatory and limbo, etc, etc. We were never faced with the fact that we were sinners who needed a Savior. That we could be the best people in the world (not that we were, but after all we hadn’t killed anyone) but we were born with a sin nature. Romans 3: 23 .... for all have sinned and come short of the glory of god. Rom 3:10 There are none righteous, no not one . These things we were faced with as we read God’s Holy Word. Boy, did we read it. We couldn’t get enough of it. John read the whole bible in 2 months time. Our thirst was so great we started watching all the shows on tv and listening to others on radio. We tested them to see if they were consistent with God’s word. We had been in religions that had their own ways. We knew they were not right because of what God’s word said. It was obvious to us that they should be ruled out as far as following anything they had to say. The Holy Spirit continued teaching us and we continued to rule out the churches that did not preach God’s word, or that did not follow the teachings of our Lord and Savior. We found that the only ones that were true to God’s word were the Baptist. We really enjoyed Charles Stanley and Adrian Rogers. It was 2 years before we ever were convicted to seek out a church and fellowship with other believers. It seems like we were much like the apostle Paul who said in GALATIANS 1:11&12 - BUT I CERTIFY YOU, BRETHREN, THAT THE GOSPEL WHICH WAS PREACHED OF ME IS NOT AFTER MAN. FOR I NEITHER RECEIVED IT OF MAN, NEITHER WAS I TAUGHT IT, BUT BY THE REVELATION OF JESUS CHRIST. VS. 15-18 BUT WHEN IT PLEASED GOD, WHO SEPARATED ME FROM MY MOTHER’S WOMB AND CALLED ME BY HIS GRACE, TO REVEAL HIS SON IN ME,.......: IMMEDIATELY I CONFERRED NOT WITH FLESH AND BLOOD: NEITHER WENT I UP TO JERUSALEM TO THEM WHICH WERE APOSTLES BEFORE ME; BUT I WENT INTO ARABIA, AND RETURNED AGAIN UNTO DAMASCUS. THEN AFTER THREE YEARS I WENT UP TO JERUSALEM......

Around October of 1994 the Lord convicted us of not being in a church. So we looked in the phone book to find us a Baptist church. We had not known of one in the area. To begin with we went on Sunday evening. Not many were there, probably around 12-15 people. All of whom were very friendly and welcomed us. We continued to go on Sunday evenings only because we didn’t want to miss the good preaching we were receiving Sunday mornings on tv. After a couple of months we decided to try a Sunday morning service in church. Our Pastor at that time, Pastor Moore, was a great man of God who preached a great sermon. It was at this time that we had the confirmation of what we had learned in God’s Holy Word. Our eternal security truly rests on what Jesus had done on the cross. We would never lose this most precious gift. We also received edification and exhortation from others who loved the Lord. We continued faithfully going Sundays and finally Wednesday evenings. We were scripturally baptized in May, 1995. In 1997 we retired- John was 55 and retired from the Post Office. I had come down with Rheumatoid Arthritis in early spring of 1994 and could no longer do the work that I had done before. We bought a condo in St. Petersburg, Fl. the fall of 1996. When we got down there we looked again in the phone book to find a good fundamental bible preaching/teaching church. We went to one church and knew that was not where the Lord wanted us. Those of you who have looked for good churches, know what I am talking about. We finally went to LibertyBaptistChurch. The minute we heard the sermon from Dr. J. L. Lowe, we knew that we had found our church. Through the teaching and preaching of Dr. Lowe, we were able to grow more in our spiritual life. Always challenged by his messages and never being content as to where we were in our Christian walk. What a joy it has been to be a part of two church families throughout the years. The Lord has richly blessed us and guided us as His word promises. Psalm 32:8 I WILL INSTRUCT THEE AND TEACH THEE IN THE WAY WHICH THOU SHALT GO: I WILL GUIDE THEE WITH MINE EYE.

We have had some of the best training and continue by His Grace to grow. It was through Liberty Baptist Church that we heard Pastor Gardner tell of the Amazing Grace Mission. Our life has been just as the Lord had imparted on my heart in 1992 a wonderful, exciting ride. The best part being that we have never been by ourselves He has always been right beside us.

It is our most sincere desire to be what He would have us to be; where He would have us to be and that we may continue to be used by Him. Being a part of this ministry has given us much joy. Most of all, we know that this is where the Lord would have us at this time. Our heart felt hope is that after meeting and talking with people; witnessing at the fair and outside the fair, that others will not have seen us, but Jesus in us and they will love Him more.

Because we are on the road so much of the time, we do not always have access to a computer and therefore do not always get to check our emails. The mission will forward any mail to us.

Thanks for reading this testimony. We pray that it will encourage some of you that were not saved the conventional way to step out in faith; trusting what the Lord will do; and giving Him all the glory. We put God in such a small box. He saves us where we are and brings us to where He would have us to be. Yes, people do get saved at the fair and we are so very thankful that they do. Remember what the Lord said....John 6:37 - ALL THAT THE FATHER GIVETH ME SHALL COME TO ME; AND HIM THAT COMETH TO ME I WILL IN NO WISE CAST OUT.

PRAISE THE LORD FOR HIS MERCY AND GRACE.
