Personal Testimony:

My name is Flora Sawyer.  I belong to the Calvary Baptist Church of Warren, Maine, where I now live.

I grew up in Maine and first learned of Jesus' love for me when I was six years old.  A little old lady with white hair held Bible Clubs in her home in Portland, which my sisters and I loved to attend.  I thank God for her!  I believe I trusted Him as my Savior at that time, but was always seeking assurance of that until I was twelve when a missionary talked with me and showed me from the Bible how I could be sure I was saved.  I was baptized and joined Appleton Baptist Church soon after.  I praise God for His mercy to me and my family that we might learn of Him, and for the many precious believers who have been instrumental in my Christian growth.

I graduated from the New Brunswick Bible Institute in Canada in 1958 and married in 1960.  My husband, Carl, who served in the church with me for many years, went home to be with the Lord in 2003.  I have two grown children and eight grandchildren.  Throughout the years I have been involved in evangelistic outreaches and teaching ministries with SS, VBS, CEF, a nursing home, ladies groups, and camping ministries.  I was also on my former church's mission board for six years.

Both of my children married deaf people so I went to the Bill Rice Ranch in Tennessee to learn SL where God burdened my heart for the deaf.  For the past 17 years I have been involved with interpreting for the deaf in my church and in Christian camps, seeing deaf young people and older people saved!  My heart has been increasing burdened to be reaching more souls, both deaf and hearing, for the Lord.

I became acquainted with Amazing Grace Mission several years ago when Brother Gardner spoke at my church and have been praying for the mission and it's workers since that time.  God has encouraged me further, as I have been praying about joining AGM, by showing me that He could use my knowledge of SL to open the door to more deaf, because they love to go to fairs.

At age 68 (2006) I'm stepping out in faith and trusting God to direct my steps and make me fruitful in the "marketplace" for His glory.
